If you know me, then you’ll know I watch porn. If you really know me, then you’ll know one of my favorite female porn stars is Christy Mack. She’s not the best “actress” and definitely an acquired taste, but I personally think she’s gorgeous. Amidst the shaved head and plethora of tattoos, is a simple beauty with crystal blue eyes. But this hasn’t been the case as of lately thanks to her ex/boyfriend mma fighter Warmachine.
About a week ago, news broke out that Warmachine (formally known as Jon Koppenhaver) was in an altercation with her and a third party at her Las Vegas home. It resulted with who we now know is Corey Thomas having a broken nose and two black eyes, and with Mack well, looking like this …
“My injuries include 18 broken bones around my eyes, my nose is broken in 2 places, I am missing teeth and several more are broken. I am unable to chew, or see out of my left eye. My speech is slurred from my swelling and lack of teeth. I have a fractured rib and severely ruptured liver from a kick to my side. My leg is so badly injured I have not been able to walk on my own. I also attained several lesions from a knife he got from my kitchen. He pushed the knife into me in some areas such as my hand, ear, and head. He also sawed much of my hair off with this dull knife. After some time, the knife broke off of the handle and continued to threaten me with the blade. I believed I was going to die. He has beaten me many times before, but never this badly.”
The above is an excerpt from the statement Mack released a few days after the assault. Asides from a few suggestive tweets from Warmachine, we have yet to hear his side of the story. However, he is denying the accusations and claiming that he was “fighting for his life”. We may never know the real story. Regardless, I find the following to be true:
Christy Mack’s occupation is and isn’t a factor. I hate to admit it, but her being a porn star is a factor, because let’s face it – that’s what she’s famous for. If she was a dentist, I highly doubt headlines would read: “Dentist Christy Mack Brutally Assaulted By Ex Boyfriend”. Furthermore, if you didn’t already know who she was, adding the word “Porn star” before her name unfortunately sensationalizes the story *Kanye shrug*. However, in no way should being a porn star make her any less of a human being. Friends and those in the industry have described her as a sweetheart. Unless she’s an evil person underneath it all, it shouldn’t matter if her occupation involves being naked in front of cameras.
Being a cheater doesn’t justify physical abuse. According to Warmachine, him and Mack were still together at the time he caught her Thomas in her Las Vegas home. Despite being photographed together (seemingly happy and holding hands) just two weeks before the run in, Mack claims the two broke up in May and that Thomas was fully clothed when Warmachine made his unannounced visit. I have 2 guesses as to what happened:
They officially broke up in May, but were still seeing each other. In which case Warmachine may have had hopes they were reconciling or in his delusional mind were still together.
They were still together, and Mack was in fact cheating on Warmachine with Thomas. If this is true, it makes Mack a cheater. Maybe even a horrible girlfriend, and a not so nice person. However, it does NOT make her someone that deserves to be stabbed or put in a choke hold.
Social media has allowed me to realize just how stupid some humans can be. Still, the ignorance of some people astonishes me. While most comments I’ve read in relation to the case were in support of Mack, there were enough comments saying she got what she deserved, because she was 1) warned of his violent ways or 2) cheated.
In regards to the former, one only needs to Google “Warmachine” to learn about his violent past. While Mack may not have deserved the beating, it shouldn’t have come as a surprise either. Second, unless Mack/Thomas were trying to kill Warmachine, or unless it was a very extreme circumstance (i.e. Mack tried to kill Warmachine’s family for whatever Hollywood movie plot twist reason), there is absolutely no reason any situation should result in violence.
If catching your significant other in the act of cheating made it OK to kill them, there would be a lot less men on Earth.
