If You Were A Girl.

I remember watching the above music video for the first time, and grimacing the entire way through. For about 3 minutes and 50 seconds I sat there shaking my head all squinty-eyed and shit, pointing my finger at Beyonce yelling, “How could you?!” Her man was  handsome, faithful, thoughtful, and driven yet she was McFloozying it up with Officer Hottie. I was genuinely upset with her.

Until it hit 4 minutes and they flipped the script revealing the role reservable at the end. But while it tugged at my heartstrings and prodded at closed wounds, it didn’t quite have the same effect on me. Although I empathized with Beyonce’s character at the end of the video, the feeling was more intense when I sympathized with the male character in the beginning of the video. For some reason, it bothered me more when she was cheating on him.

Regardless of who the perpetrator is: cheating is cheating. And even if it’s warranted or provoked, it’s still disrespectful and ultimately wrong in my book. But while I was disappointed when news broke out that Jesse James cheated on Sandra Bullock, I was absolutely livid when Kristen Stewart’s infidelity emerged. WHO THE FUCK CHEATS ON EDWARD CULLEN THOUGH?!

I hate to admit it, but I know so many men that cheat on their women I’m almost accustomed to it. Sometimes I’m more surprised when they’re actually faithful. The sad reality is I know more good women than I know good men, so when a good man gets cheated on it’s like a huge, ungrateful slap in the face. I know that’s a pretty bold generalization to make, but personally speaking it’s true.

I’m not saying there are no good men out there – there are. And I’m not saying women don’t cheat – they do. But it’s almost like someone getting a juicy steak for free in the middle of a meat shortage then tossing it out because they’re not hungry. I’m just saying BITCH, I could’ve ate that.
